Summary
Objectives
The project aimed to bring together youth workers from Italy, Russia, Austria and Türkiye who work with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. The goal was to exchange experience, gain new competences, explore different perspectives and strengthen practical tools in the youth field. A further objective was to ensure that the knowledge gained would be disseminated at local, regional and national levels. In line with this purpose, 20 participants were selected by the partner organisations: Verein Multikulturell, FALCO Group, Mozaik and CESIE.
Implementation
The 5-day training course took place in Innsbruck, Austria, with five participants from each partner country. The group consisted of 13 women and 7 men, 14 of whom were between 18 and 30 years old, while 6 were over 30. The training focused on non-formal learning methods that support the social integration of disadvantaged young people. Sessions covered intercultural learning, youth rights, active citizenship, exclusion mechanisms and group dynamics. Participants also practised facilitation, workshop planning, debriefing, communication and teamwork in intercultural settings. Daily reflection activities strengthened learning outcomes, while cultural visits and intercultural evenings helped participants understand the local context of Innsbruck.
Results
Participants strengthened their knowledge of diversity, inclusion and youth participation. They developed practical competences such as facilitation, communication, debriefing and workshop design. The experience improved their ability to work with disadvantaged young people and increased their confidence in creating safe, inclusive learning environments. The project also enhanced their attitudes towards self-reflection and mutual respect. Intercultural exchange contributed to personal growth, while the connections established among youth workers reinforced future cooperation within the partner network.
