Summary

Objectives
The project strengthened youth workers’ capacity to address fake news, disinformation and related risks such as online hate speech, radicalisation, extremism, intolerance and declining trust in democratic institutions. It aimed to equip youth workers with practical methods to enhance media literacy, critical thinking and e-participation among young people. A core goal was to empower youth to act responsibly in digital spaces and contribute to more informed and democratic online communities. The project also sought to reinforce the role of youth organisations in promoting non-formal education and in building stronger cooperation networks across Europe.

Implementation
Twenty-four youth workers, leaders and facilitators from various organisations participated in an eight-day training course. The programme followed a progressive learning pathway. It started with the fundamentals of fake news, misinformation and online participation, and gradually introduced tools, methods and analytical approaches for combating digital manipulation and its social consequences.

Activities were fully based on non-formal education and included group discussions, peer learning, collaborative exercises, brainstorming sessions, role plays and critical analysis tasks. Participants explored topics such as online narratives, disinformation mechanisms and strategies to prevent radicalisation and intolerance.

The learning process culminated in the design and production of the FAME online miniseries, developed by the participants as a practical output to raise awareness among online users. Through this experience, participants directly applied the tools learned and strengthened their ability to deliver similar activities in their own communities.

Results
The project produced concrete, transferable outputs. The primary result was the FAME miniseries, consisting of four episodes raising awareness about fake news, disinformation and their harmful effects. It offers an accessible and engaging tool for youth workers, organisations and young people.
Another major output was the FAME Public Report, which documents the project’s objectives, methodologies, training agenda and activity descriptions. This report enables other organisations to replicate or adapt the methodologies and expand the project’s long-term impact.

Youth workers enhanced their skills in promoting media literacy, critical thinking and online civic participation. They gained practical tools to help young people identify manipulation, analyse media content and prevent intolerance and radicalisation. These improvements strengthened the capacities of partner organisations and created a broader ripple effect: participants are now applying the methods in their daily work, enabling young people to become informed multipliers in their own environments.
