Summary
Objectives
The project promoted active youth participation and inclusion through non-formal learning. It supported the development of democratic values, intercultural understanding and respect for diversity. It strengthened awareness of Erasmus+ principles and used music and creative arts as tools to address discrimination and promote acceptance. A central aim was the creation of a shared song as a symbol of unity. The project encouraged initiative, responsibility and active citizenship, raised awareness of issues such as ethnic and gender discrimination and Roma marginalisation, and promoted recognition of learning through Youthpass. Local-community involvement was reinforced through public events and creative activities.
Implementation
The programme followed an eight-day structure combining group building, thematic workshops and creative production. Early activities introduced Erasmus+, Youthpass and group agreements. Work then focused on understanding discrimination through national comparisons, EU anti-racism actions, and structured discussions. Participants engaged in interviews with the local community and used the collected insights to write lyrics and compose music. Dedicated workshops supported text writing, musical creation and dissemination planning. The song was recorded, a video was produced and a Flash Mob was presented in a public space. Participants finalised their Youthpass with guided reflection.
The project gathered young people aged 18–25 from Italy, Spain, Turkey, Denmark and the Czech Republic. Each national group included a leader with experience in intercultural facilitation. Participants were selected based on motivation, interest in the topic and willingness to engage with a rural context while working collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
Results
At local and regional level, the project increased awareness of Erasmus+ opportunities and strengthened community engagement through public performances and cooperation with local organisations. Media coverage expanded the project’s visibility and boosted interest in youth participation.
At European and international level, the project promoted EU values, encouraged dialogue on discrimination and inclusion, and reinforced cooperation among partner organisations.
For the young participants, the project developed transversal skills such as teamwork, adaptability and intercultural communication. Stereotypes were challenged, confidence increased and motivation to act as agents of positive change grew. Participants gained familiarity with Erasmus+ and greater appreciation of collaborative learning.
Overall, the project produced a meaningful creative output, strengthened inclusion and intercultural cooperation, and supported young people in becoming active contributors to their communities.
