Summary

Objectives
The project strengthened bilingual education in preschool by creating a methodology and a set of digital tools that help educators and parents use web-based Open Educational Resources (OER) for second-language learning. It aimed to increase parents’ confidence in supporting bilingual development at home and to equip teachers with innovative approaches to multilingual early education. The project promoted early language acquisition as a key element for intercultural dialogue, inclusion, and future learning and employment opportunities.

Implementation
The consortium included kindergartens and NGOs from Austria, Bulgaria, Spain, Italy, Türkiye, and Cyprus, supported by a research organisation specialised in ICT for learning. Products were developed and piloted simultaneously in all six countries. Activities included in-classroom testing with teachers and children, parent workshops, and online e-courses for both educators and families. The combined classroom–online approach provided practical tools and demonstrated how OERs can enhance early bilingual learning even when parents do not speak the target language.

Results
The project delivered a full set of bilingual-education tools using OERs, tested across multiple countries. Teachers adopted new methods for supporting multilingual children, and parents reported higher confidence in guiding language learning at home. Children improved their linguistic competences through structured activities and home–school cooperation. Dissemination, multiplier events, and exploitation seminars generated strong stakeholder interest, leading to sustained use of the materials in kindergartens and families and contributing to multilingual and inclusive early childhood education across Europe.
