Summary

Objectives
The project addresses digital hyperconnection and its negative effects on mental health, social interaction, and well-being. It uses creative writing and visual arts to help young people manage their digital habits, strengthen emotional expression, and build critical thinking. It promotes social inclusion, active participation, and intercultural dialogue, especially for young people with fewer opportunities. Locally, it creates safe spaces for youth engagement in Orta Nova, while internationally it fosters cooperation among partners from Greece, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Türkiye.

Implementation
The programme combines non-formal education, creative writing, artistic production, and intercultural exchange. Activities include team-building, discussions on digital addiction, empathetic writing sessions, mindfulness and yoga, analysis of European mental-health policies, and a full Words Lab dedicated to cut-up, blackout poetry, and storytelling. The exchange concludes with “Words on Display,” a public event presenting participants’ works to the community. Six partner organizations each send six young people aged 18–24 plus a group leader. Priority is given to disadvantaged youth. Group leaders coordinate closely with facilitators to ensure a safe, inclusive environment.

Results
Participants gain stronger awareness of hyperconnection risks, improved creativity, critical thinking, and emotional expression skills, along with better stress-management strategies. Intercultural communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills improve through joint activities. After the exchange, participants replicate Words Labs in local schools and youth centres, promoting digital detox and active citizenship. “Words on Display” strengthens links with local communities and improves participants’ public-speaking and event-management abilities. Organizations benefit from new youth-work tools, stronger management capacity, and durable European cooperation networks. The methods developed are expected to be reused and shared internationally, generating long-term impact.
